Everybody needs a rock! Jesus was referenced to be the rock in the weary land in Isaiah 32:2. We all need a place of stability and shelter. Thank you God that you have provided Jesus to such a One for us.
“Joy to the world, The Lord has come,
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare him room
Today is Good Friday. It is the day that Jesus was put on the cross to make atonement for the sins of the world.
History and the scriptures show Jesus lived through excruciating pain, torment, and mockery on this day.
The day can be seen as a day to grieve over the harsh treatment that Jesus endured. Grieve for a bit, if your must. Then:
Reflect on His sufferings and His love for sympathizing-with-sin and/or too-often rebellious people like you and me.
Repent of any sin and count your repentance as reasonable service to the Master.
Rejoice — Sunday, the day He arose from the grave is coming.
Resurrection Day (still called Easter by many) is the day every born-again believer sees that our victory over weaknesses in the flesh and our victory Satan can be won ! Hallelujah!
I was searching through blogs and came across this question: Could Jesus get sick?
I commented at the thirstytheologian’s site, but I was so stirred by the question I had to put something here as well.
I believed that Jesus could have gotten sick. He was 100% God but He was also 100% human*. His humanness and the frailty of the human body would have definitely allowed Him to become sick!
Funny though, I don’t remember anywhere in the scriptures where it says that Jesus was sick.
Do you know of any scriptures that say so? Do comment on what you think.
* The official term for this concept is hypostatic union. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypostatic_union
Thank you God for sending your Son in fleshly form to reconcile us back to You. Only an unfathomable love would cause You to send a part of Yourself to earth to experience humanity. Reconciliation to Yourself was only possible in human form. As God you could not die. As man not only was death possible, but then humanness caused You to better understand our frailty.
How glorious You are!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!!!!!!!
Let me start by wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
Yes, I know there are those who celebrate this time of the year in other ways; yet, I am staunch proponent that this is the believer’s time of year to shout from the rooftops our recognition of Jesus’ birth.
Some may ask, “What’s the big deal about Jesus coming to earth anyway”?
Jesus came to earth to thwart Satan’s plan to forever separate us from the Father. The Father in His love for us devised a strategy to reconcile us to Himself in spite of Adam’s sin of disobedience. The strategy is Jesus’ life, death on the cross, burial, and resurrection.
We see in Colossians 2:13-15 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Maybe it’s difficult for you to think of Jesus defending you.
Try something more practical. Most of us remember a school or neighbor bully that tormented us. Think of Jesus as the Master Bully Defender. Ask Jesus to come into your life (Romans 10: 9-11) and ask Him to help you to live according to the bible. Then, watch Jesus keep Satan out of your neighborhood, your home, and even your mind!
Oh, how wonderful He is!
As the days progress, remember Jesus and the meaning He brings to this season. This is the time of year that believers acknowledge that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and came on earth to take away the sins of mankind.
I am all for cementing family ties…
Just remember that with Jesus in our lives we have the strongest family tie ever, from here through eternity.
