2009 is swiftly turning into history. In reflection we think of the good, the bad, the sad, and the ugly events of the year. I, like millions of you, still think of the sad day in June 2009 when I realized that the extraordinarily talented Michael Jackson died.
Considering all the twists and turns that a day or a year can bring, it sometimes feels like God is not watching over us. We ask, “God why did You let this happen? Why is my loved one not here? Why am I still unemployed? Why, why, why?”
2009 has just hours before its end; yet, we still have many issues that seem unresolved. Be encouraged that all the events of our lives, of our history, are not beyond God’s sight.
I make no claim to understand why God allows all that He does. Yet, I have come to learn that no matter the hour, the day, or year we believers can trust Him to loving guide us through circumstances. Moments may come when you feel abandoned along the way. Fret not. God is there looking out for and supplying the good in the situation. I resoundingly speak for you and myself, “Let us not waver in our trust in Him!” Waiting on Him, trusting in Him will bring us no shame.
Cling to your trust in Him for the days of 2010 and for everyday thereafter until the rapture* or the grave!
* Rapture– Jesus will return and gather all believers to ascend and live with Him in heaven. (See I Thessalonians 4:15-17. )
Thank you God for sending your Son in fleshly form to reconcile us back to You. Only an unfathomable love would cause You to send a part of Yourself to earth to experience humanity. Reconciliation to Yourself was only possible in human form. As God you could not die. As man not only was death possible, but then humanness caused You to better understand our frailty.
How glorious You are!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!!!!!!!
Let me start by wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
Yes, I know there are those who celebrate this time of the year in other ways; yet, I am staunch proponent that this is the believer’s time of year to shout from the rooftops our recognition of Jesus’ birth.
Some may ask, “What’s the big deal about Jesus coming to earth anyway”?
Jesus came to earth to thwart Satan’s plan to forever separate us from the Father. The Father in His love for us devised a strategy to reconcile us to Himself in spite of Adam’s sin of disobedience. The strategy is Jesus’ life, death on the cross, burial, and resurrection.
We see in Colossians 2:13-15 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Maybe it’s difficult for you to think of Jesus defending you.
Try something more practical. Most of us remember a school or neighbor bully that tormented us. Think of Jesus as the Master Bully Defender. Ask Jesus to come into your life (Romans 10: 9-11) and ask Him to help you to live according to the bible. Then, watch Jesus keep Satan out of your neighborhood, your home, and even your mind!
Oh, how wonderful He is!
Many Americans are having Christmas parties and gatherings. Families are enjoying each other with holiday recipes, gifts, and well-wishes for a better new year.
As the days progress, remember Jesus and the meaning He brings to this season. This is the time of year that believers acknowledge that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and came on earth to take away the sins of mankind.
I am all for cementing family ties…
Just remember that with Jesus in our lives we have the strongest family tie ever, from here through eternity.
God knows you are here.
If you are believer, God know you are here. No matter what choices you have made, God will not dismiss you. He will ask for your repentance and there may be consequences to endure because of your actions. YET, there will never be a punishment that equals His forgetting you. (Family, friends, or others may forget you. But God never forgets anything or anyone.) He knows that you are on this planet at this point in history. Rest in His love and care.
Furthermore if you are are committed to being righteous, He has promised us certain benefits including providing for us and our “seed never begging for bread”. He will make provision for you. His provision for the day may not be what you expected or wanted but it will always be enough for that day! 🙂
God knows that you are here.
If you are a non-believer God know you are here as well. NOTHING you have done makes Him ignore your existence. He yearns for you to repent or turn away from wrong-doing. He longs for you to yield yourself to Him. He loves you and is calling your name.
Start trusting, start knowing that:
God knows you are here
God knows you are here
You are not alone
In Jesus, then we see that God’s Highest glory consists in His securing our deepest happiness. What a God this is!
